The possibility to obtain thin film deposition directly on a fiber optic end with an Electron Beam Evaporation System has a number of applications for high performance products in Telecom, Spectroscopy and Sensor applications.
SEDI-ATI has developed an extensive know-how for this highly technical operation and can offer a broad range of standard or custom designed products including :
• AR coating (anti reflexion) with single band, dual band (1310/1550) or broad band.
• Dichroic filters : Hi pass, low pass.
• Reflective coating : metallic layer on fiber end for total reflexion.
All these products can be made on a large variety of fibers from single mode to large core fibers.
Typical materials used for evaporation range from HfO2 and SiO2 for AR coatings ZnSe,YF3, ZnF,TiO2, or SiO2, for dichroic filters, Ag, Ag-Cr, Al-Cr for reflective coatings.
The process is accurately controlled by Quartz Crystal Monitoring and a number of equipments are completing the evaporation chamber for custom development and quality control : Spectrophotometer (from 200nm to 3300nm), Optical source (from 1200 to 1700 nm), Optical Spectrum Analyser, Microscope, Binoculars, etc.
